This Very World

Right meditation is not escapism; it is not meant to provide hiding-places for temporary oblivion. Realistic meditation has the purpose of training the mind to face, to understand, and to conquer this very world in which we live.

  1. I suppose meditation (which I practice in my own way) is a sort of prayer aimed inward rather than outward…for the sake of approaching the world with a new freshness of attitude and determination and courage. Well, that’s what it is in my case!

  2. I have always experienced it as an emptying. It gives me a chance to see what is outside for how it is, what is inside for what it is and how the two are the same.

It is also like plugging in. When I plug a battery appliance in to recharge, I do not use it at the same time.
